Admission

A Residence Permit is required for eligible non-Mauritian citizens to enter and reside in Mauritius for studies. The residence permit application (accompanied by appropriate supporting documents) is processed and approved by the Passport and Immigration Office(PIO), subject to the requirements.

Letter of Offer:

The first step is the Issuance of the letter of offer. Prospective students should submit the following document for the consideration of AVIS and BITC.

  • 1) Original scanned copy of Passport – pages with biodata particulars.
  • 2) Duly filled Course Application Form
  • 3) Scanned copies of their original educational documents (clearly showing all four borders)

BITC will issue a Certificate of Enrolment to students who meet the minimum entry requirement, upon which AVIS will issue the Letter of Offer.

Student Visa Application:

The student must submit the following visa application documents.

  • 1. Payment receipt of the Application Fee of USD 250.00
  • 2. Form “Application to Enter Mauritius” duly filled in, dated and signed by the applicant.
  • 3. Two recent passport-size photographs of the applicant; or Passport Size Digital photograph in 600DPI JPEG Format (3.5 C.M. X 4.5 C.M, White Background, Light Shirt, 80% Face on Photograph, No Border on the photo, No Cap or Glasses)
  • 4. Photocopy of the bio-data pages of the passport of the applicant beyond the period of stay;
  • 5. The original offer letter.
  • 6. Original copy of Letter of acceptance duly signed by the student;
  • 7. The original copy of the documentary evidence (eq to USD 6250) of the availability of funds or financial capacity to meet the costs of study and stay in Mauritius, including the original copy of documents stated below.
    • a. A recent bank transaction statement belonging to the parent or guardian for the last 6 months, 
b. Certificate of Balance issued by the Bank.
    • c. Letter of sponsorship from parents or guardian,
    • d. Copy of ID or passport of parents or guardian;
  • 8. Accommodation letter (proof of address in Mauritius and Copy of ID of tenant);
  • 9. An original medical certificate/report (computerised) certifying that the applicant is not suffering from the following contagious or infectious disease carried out in his/her country of origin.
    • a.     HIV
    • b.     Hepatitis B,
    • c.     Chest X-ray.
  • 10. Note: All the reports should be couriered except Chest X-ray Film, which should be carried while travelling to Mauritius after visa approval. The name in reports should be as per Passport.
  • 11. Another medical certificate must be within one month of arriving in Mauritius.
  • 12. Original copy of the Police clearance certificate (PCC).

Approval and Collection of Resident Permit:

  • 1. The normal processing time for student visa applications is two (2) weeks. However, some cases may take longer.
  • 2. The PIO will issue the Provisional Student Entry Visa (valid for 3 months) for successful applications.
  • 3. Avis will send a reference copy of the permit to the student by email.
  • 4. Upon approval, the student should sign the contract and pay the tuition fee to the designated bank account as instructed in the offer letter.
  • 5. To pass through Immigration, students must book round-trip tickets to Mauritius with a single Passenger Name Record (PNR) before the expiration of the visa duration.
  • 6. Before entering Mauritius, students must pay a fee of USD 250.00 for airport pickup, booking for shared accommodation (one month from arrival), and medical tests required to obtain their residence permit. The student must have a legal place of accommodation and enter Mauritius.
  • 7. Upon arrival, report to the Institute to complete the residence permit collection and course enrolment formalities.

Additional requirements:

Deposit and Local Bank Account:

Students should also pay a deposit of USD 500.00 to the school along with the course fees for the payment of the return air ticket. Additionally, within two months of obtaining a Residence Permit, students must open a local bank account in Mauritius with a minimum of MUR 100,000.00. Proof of the transfer should be submitted to the PIO.

Legal Place of Accommodation:

Students must have a legal place of accommodation registered with PIO. Any change in the place of accommodation should be updated with the authorities in a timely manner.
